Round Robin

2:09 AM

Yes, yes I know weird time to be writing a blog...even weirder...MJ playing McDonalds.

Yes, I know what you are thinking...WHAT!

Me too! But I give up. I don't know what else to do. I have been playing round robin with two teething children.

The first sign of  trouble was when MJ started in at midnight crying, being the adoring mother I am, I quickly went to his rescue...and have been at his beckon call ever since. First I layed with the little man for a bit...thought I would just grab a pillow and snuggle up with him and he would drift off to dream land, then I would very slyly sneak my way out of his bed and slip into my own...WRONG

He has a horrible cough...kind of annoying if you are an innocent neighbor minding your own business in your crib...Enter crying baby #2...she was probably thinking.."excuse me sir, I do need my beauty sleep sometime tonight!"

So thus started my back and forth between their rooms...get one kid settled down, the other one starts in, get them calmed down, the the first one again...back and forth...did I mention we started at midnight?

So...after snuggling, getting water, rocking, eating yogurt, eating cereal (kid wanted cereal then took one measly bite, I had to eat the rest of it), Here we are...wide awake, well unfortunately awake, MJ just came and asked for a fruit snack...Poor guys eyes are watered from being so tired. At his request we are now watching cartoons. Little Bear is on at two...I like Little Bear

I will admit...this would under NO circumstances be considered a normal acceptable scenario...but the kid is teething...been in pain and having a fever off and on for four days now...so I will make an exception...It is not like the poor man could get decent sleep coughing like he has been...we tried.

My hopes...In an hour (or sooner) he will get so tired, he will curl up here in the recliner with me and fall asleep. Cease coughing, and we will snuggle the rest of the night. Robert will walk in to find us peacefully asleep in the chair, he will think...hmmm...she must have had a rough night. Guess I will make that "purdy" darling wife of mine a nice warm breakfast, then send her off to bed while I take care of our two sick kiddos while she gets her beauty rest.

OK...quit laughing...a girl can dream

Generally we would share this responsibility but Robert has a migraine...Note...he did let me turn in early the other night, when I myself had a headache, so I am trying to let him get some sleep so he too can get rid of his.

  1. It's hard when the younglings are sick but Sandy English once put it in perspective for me. She said it was those times that she cherished and that I should enjoy the time with them. I thought at that moment "what, enjoy them being sick" No, thats not what she ment.As i thought about it over the years it has become a special time for me also because it's when you get to stop and cuddle with them, fix them what ever their little heart desires, read to them, pray for and with them. Then when the sickness is leaving and the lord has answered your prayers you are left much more thankful and happy for having gone through it. Lots of love and prayers to ya. Hope ya get some rest!
